When food is produced but not consumed, it results in unnecessary CO2 emissions, consumption of land and water, and loss of biodiversity. Food waste accounts for 25% of the environmental pollution caused by the
Swiss population’s food.
Reducing food waste is a top priority in the Netherlands. To this end, the Dutch government is supporting and running a number of forward-looking initiatives.
